Now that the calendar has turned to January it is officially lineup season! Coachella, Governors Ball and Boston Calling have alreadya announced their 2018 lineups and Shaky Knees is just around the corner. Before they announce their official lineup I thought we'd throw out some last minute predictions for who we expect to see on the poster. Here's five acts we are expecting to see at Shaky Knees 2018.
Queens is playing shows in Florida just before Shaky Knees, plays in North Carolina just after, and has a gap during Shaky Knees 2018 dates. They also have no Atlanta date on the billing and are starting to appear on other Live Nation festival lineups. I feel quite confident we are going to see them on the 2018 lineup, and likely in one of the headlining spots.
Another big rock band with a suspicious gap during Shaky Knees dates. Fleet Foxes are playing Coachella on April 21 and then have a gap until May 21. They also have no Shaky Knees date, nor have they played the festival before. Fleet Foxes will be at Shaky Knees I believe, and now the question is whether or not they would headline. I tend to think no, but most people think they would be. We shall see soon!
Full disclosure I mostly just want this to happen. Jack White has began creeping up on Live Nation festival linesup like Governors Ball and Boston Calling. Given this, and the fact that Shaky Knees is the type of pure rock fest he would fit perfectly at, I think there's a chance. Live Nation has really began having headliners do multiple festivals (for better or worse) so I think Jack White is in play, even at a smaller fest like Shaky Knees.
Coming off one of the best rock albums of the year I expect The War On Drugs to play a lot of festivals. The fact that they haven't announced a full tour yet indicates this is the case as they likely need to hold tour dates for festival announcements. I think Shaky Knees 2018 will be one of those festivals on their lsit.
I am probably in the minority but I would not be excited about this. Regardless, they are definitely in the running for Shaky Knees. They have already been announced for a few festivals next year, nad are still touring promoting their newest album Sacred Hearts Club. They haven't played Shaky Knees, which seems odd at this point; perhaps 2018 will be the first year.
Last year the Shaky Knees lineup came out on January 10th so we will know soon whether I was right or dead wrong. Let us know who you want to see at Shaky Knees 2018 below!
