Can I bring outside food into Hangout?

I just want to emphasize this since it gets asked a lot - no. Hangout does not allow you to bring any food or beverages inside the festival unfortunately.

What should I bring with me to Hangout Fest?

If you are interested in all the things we think you should take with you to Hangout Fest you should check out our full article on it at http://www.eventtrk.com/events/45/hangout-music-festival/168/hangout-festival-essentials-what-you-should-bring. I will offer a few quick thoughts on the allowed list, and what you should bring.

Blankets / Beach Towels – These are nice if you don’t mind sitting a bit from the stage and want to chill out. It’s quite fun to find a spot to throw down a beach towel, sit down, and chill for a bit. Part of the fun with Hangout is the fact that it’s on a beach, so you should take some time to enjoy it. Just know you won’t be able to set up your spot directly in front of the stage – that’s bad etiquette. Setup your towel back a bit from the stage and you can relax and enjoy the show from a distance.

Camelbak – I am a big proponent of bringing a Camelbak with you to Hangout Fest. It basically cuts down on your trips to go get water and allows you to have more time at the stages watching performances. It also gives you a better chance of staying hydrated as you will always have water on you. Lastly, you will use this for more than just Hangout Fest. If you go to any other music festivals, hiking, or other outdoor activities you will use it; it’s worth it.

Sunscreen – Unless you want to come back from Hangout absolutely fried you should bring sunscreen. Just make sure you bring the liquid kind or it’s not getting in. They do sell it inside the festival, but it’s like everything else inside: overpriced.

Backpacks – Obviously you can survive without bringing a backpack to Hangout Fest but I recommend you do it. If you have a locker you can just throw it in there when you don’t need it, but if you don’t have a locker I really recommend it. It’s nice to have somewhere to stash your sunglasses at night so you don’t lose them, carry a hoodie for nighttime when it cools down, and/or a place to store water bottles or contraband. It’s not a big deal to carry this around all day at Hangout Fest, so I recommend bringing one.

Alcohol / Illegal Substances – Obviously you cannot bring these in with you, but almost everyone does. Sneaking this stuff into festivals is fairly easy, just use a little bit of creativity and think of where they won’t be searching you when you go through the gates at Hangout Fest.

Summary

There you have it, everything you can and cannot bring with you to Hangout Fest. Admittedly, a lot of these are obvious, but some aren’t so it is good to know what isn’t allowed before you go. Don’t be the guy who makes your group run back to the hotel because you brought something you can’t part with to Hangout Fest.
